We are seeking a highly motivated, Second Officer, Relief Chief Officer to fill a Regular position at Swartz Bay.
In this position you will stand a watch as the Navigating Officer of the vessel. You have considerable knowledge of applicable navigating equipment and techniques and corporate policies and procedures applicable to the position. You are very familiar with international, federal and provincial regulations applicable to the position, safety and emergency procedures, and knowledge of ship handling principles, stability, seamanship, and deck maintenance.
As duties will vary depending on business requirements, a flexible attitude is essential. You are extremely safety-conscious. You hold a valid Chief Mate, Near Coastal Certificate or higher and Valid Seafarer’s Medical certificate.

You bring a wide scope of technical, interpersonal and leadership experience to a role central to the safe and efficient operation of the ship’s machinery and equipment, including all operating systems and services, and possess considerable knowledge of safe work practices. We require individuals with a 2nd Class Transport Canada Motor Certificate.

We are currently seeking applications from individuals interested in being considered for the Shipboard Management position of Chief Engineer, Major in Nanaimo (Departure Bay and Duke Point). The successful applicant will be required to travel outside of Point of Assembly (Nanaimo) to support Coastal Class vessels.

Additional information
This is a regular, full-time position with a salary range of $131,700.00 to $146,300.00 per annum. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate’s competencies, including but not limited to experience, education and performance related to this role.

OPERATOR - CABLE FERRY

You are a customer-minded individual playing a critical role for the safe and efficient loading and unloading of the vehicle and passenger traffic, and the operation, safety, and security of the vessel.
You have considerable knowledge of seamanship in all applications, excellent customer service skills, basic mechanical knowledge and aptitude with a strong team orientation and interpersonal communication skills. You are knowledgeable of operational equipment and procedures.
This position requires STCW Basic Safety training, STCW Proficiency in Survival Craft training, Restricted Operator’s Certificate – Maritime Commercial (ROC-MC), and Simulated Electronic Navigation 2 (SEN 2) or equivalent electronic navigation training.

You are a customer-minded individual playing a critical role in vessel operation and safety through vessel maintenance and the loading and unloading of vehicle and passenger traffic.
This position requires Marine Emergency duties certificates: STCW Basic Safety (MED A1 and MED B2) and Survival Craft (MED B1); ability to react in a safe and effective manner during an emergency; ability to direct and control vehicles and passengers; working knowledge of safe work practices and seamanship; and ability to climb ladders, handle ships’ lines and move heavy objects.
Preference may be shown to applicants with a Bridge Watch rating or higher certificate. Applicants must hold a valid Seafarers’ Medical Certificate.
