You are enthusiastic, reliable, and service orientated individual who excels working in a fast passed customer focused environment. Your duties include performing traffic control, baggage, and custodian duties. You direct traffic during loading/unloading procedures; maintain terminal buildings and grounds; communicate with other shipboard and terminal staff to ensure the safe and efficient loading and discharge of vessel traffic; respond to passenger queries; and perform additional duties as required. You will be required to be on your feet for long periods of time and working outdoor in all weather conditions.
You will be guaranteed a monthly equivalent of 2 scheduled shifts per week until May 31, 2024 and during peak season between June 01 2024 and September 02 2024, 15 shifts per month subject to meeting minimum availability requirements.

As a casual on-call Customer Service Attendant, you prepare and serve a variety of foods and beverages including assisting in the preparation and presentation of menu items; taking passenger orders; ensuring cleanliness and readiness of passenger and kitchen areas; performing housekeeping and major cleaning routines throughout the vessel; and other related duties as required.
You possess strong customer service skills, with the ability to work in a high volume customer focused environment in a physically demanding job, and are an excellent communicator with a high level of self-motivation and initiative. In addition, you are an innovative team player who works well under pressure with the ability to be flexible and adapt to a change in task when necessary.

You have one (1) year of customer service experience, preferably in a food service environment. Occupational First Aid Level 3 and Professional Cook Level 1 would be assets. A valid Seafarer’s Medical, Food Safe Level 1 and Serving it Right Certificates are required and can be obtained upon receiving an offer of employment.

As a first point of contact to the public, you respond to customer telephone enquiries and requests, book, cancel and modify travel for our customers, and provide professional and timely information and assistance regarding all aspects of BC Ferries' operations.
In this role, you work full-time in a call centre environment and are available for various shifts (mornings, days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and on call) across our hours of operation (6am-10pm Monday-Friday, 7am-7pm on weekends).
We provide an intensive 4-week training program with pay, which requires you to be present every day of training. Class starts on May 27.
As the ideal candidate, you bring your positive attitude and excellent communication skills coupled with 1 year of applied experience in sales and customer service related environments. You have successfully completed Grade 12 and have an intermediate to advanced proficiency with computers and their applications, including (but not limited to) Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Social Media experience is an asset. Training will be provided for our reservation booking system, and other software tools used in our Customer Service Centre.

You serve as the Ship’s Officer in the conduct of deck department activities including loading/unloading vehicles and passengers; navigation; ship husbandry; passenger/vessel safety; supervision; plan, direct, and organize crew, delegate vessel duties, and provide regular training and performance feedback. In addition, you perform various administrative duties relating to deck safety, security, maintenance, and crew. You possess considerable knowledge of applicable navigating equipment and techniques, ship handling principles, stability, seamanship and deck maintenance.
You are computer literate and have clear, concise, communication skills. A familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite would be an asset. The successful candidate will hold a valid Mate certificate as required by Transport Canada and must obtain a valid a Seafarers’ medical prior to commencing employment. Preference will be given to applicants who hold a Chief Mate certification or higher.

You are a safety-minded individual responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair and inspection of marine facilities and structures. You interpret and/or prepare drawings; establish material requirements for layout installation, maintenance, servicing and inspection; and provide leadership and guidance to other trades employees on marine facilities and the operation of related systems.
You have a thorough understanding of marine facility maintenance including hydraulics, WSBC Regulations, and safe work practices with a high level of self-motivation and initiative. You have strong organizational, analytical communication, and interpersonal skills, and are a strong team player with the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
You have a minimum 3 years’ experience as a Dock Repairer and hold a BC or Interprovincial Trade Qualification in Pile Driving, Bridgeman and a Certificate of Qualification and Red Seal Endorsement in the trade of Mobile Crane Operator (Construction Industry).
Experience working in a marine environment would an asset. Moderate travel throughout the fleet is required.

The successful applicant is a passionate, innovative engineer who brings the technical, interpersonal, developmental, administrative and leadership skills as well as the experience required for safe and efficient management and operation of the ship’s machinery and equipment. You are committed to the Company’s vision and values including safety, exceeding customer expectations and performance efficiency. Your experience includes proficiency in marine engineering with relevant operating systems and a demonstrated knowledge in safe work practices, leadership & development of employees and an understanding of financial and budget processes.
