The Opportunity 

Are you a proactive and progressive Human Resources leader who is passionate about creating exceptional employee experiences and supporting operational success? We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to join our People Experience team. 

Reporting to the Director, People Experience, you will play a key role in shaping the employee experience across a diverse and dynamic unionized environment. As a trusted advisor and partner to leaders, you will provide strategic and practical guidance in employee and labour relations, performance and attendance management, employee development, workforce planning, and collective agreement interpretation.

Working closely with leaders throughout the business, you'll contribute to solutions that strengthen our workforce and support the delivery of safe and reliable service to the communities we serve. 

Responsibilities 

• Develops and implements people experience strategies that align with the organizational and operational objectives 

• Oversees the consistent application of HR policies, procedures, and programs across business units, including interpretation of collective agreements and compliance with provincial employment laws 

• Partners with leadership to identify workforce trends and recommend solutions for engagement, retention, and productivity 

• Conducts internal workplace investigations and manages local grievance handling to mitigate organizational risk 

• Manages employee relations matters while providing guidance on conflict resolution, performance management, and policy interpretation 

• Leads initiatives to improve onboarding, career development, and recognition programs to enhance employee experience 

• Provides oversight on workplace accommodations, leaves of absence and disability management programs 

• Utilizes HRIS and analytics tools to monitor workforce metrics and provide actionable insights to leadership 

• Drives continuous improvement in HR processes while leveraging technology and best practices to optimize service delivery 

• Assists in preparation and review of arbitrations and other legal inquiries, participates in coordinating employee separations and severance agreements 

What you bring to the team? 

Education/Academic Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field 

• Certified Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation is considered an asset 

• Training or certification in labour relations or change management is considered an asset 

Work Experience Requirements:  

• Minimum 5-7 years of progressive HR experience, including experience as a HR Business Partner and demonstrated experience in a complex unionized environment 

• Strong knowledge of employment legislation, labour relations practices and HR best practices with transportation or service industries 

• Familiarity with HRIS platforms, workforce analytics and scheduling systems commonly used in large-scale operations

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships across all levels of the organization, with proven ability to inspire trust and influence decision-making 

• Analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex workforce challenges 

• Proficiency in HR technology systems and data-driven decision-making 

• Leadership and coaching skills to guide teams and influence stakeholders effectively 

• String facilitation and training skills for presenting to diverse groups

Additional information 

This is a regular, full-time position with a salary range of $98,500 to $123,100 per annum.  The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate’s competencies, including but not limited to experience, education and performance, related to this role.
