The opportunity
This is a unique opportunity for prospective employees residing on Alliford Bay to launch a career with BC Ferries as a Deckhand. Successful applicants will have their Transport Canada Marine Emergency Duties (MED) training—including STCW and Proficiency in Survival Craft—fully sponsored, with eligible expenses covered by BC Ferries. Upon successful completion of the required training, you will transition directly into a Deckhand role and begin your career with us.

What you bring to the team
You are a customer-minded individual who plays a critical role in vessel operations and safety. You can react in a safe and effective manner during an emergency and to direct and control vehicles and passengers. You have a working knowledge of safe work practices and seamanship and ability to climb ladders, handle ships’ lines and move heavy objects.
