SENIOR MANAGER, FOOD AND RETAIL STRATEGIC PLANNING

The Role

Reporting to the Executive Director, Catering Operations, Food and Retail Programs, you add value by key areas of oversight such as:

  • Providing oversight and leadership to a multi-disciplinary team of excluded and bargaining unit members including warehouse operations, the role oversees the full lifecycle of product development and service delivery from market analysis, concept development and vendor management to operational execution and systems optimization.
  • Ensureing all the offerings are of high-quality, financially sound, operationally sustainable and aligned with both brand and customer expectations;
  • Leading long-term strategy and development for food services, retail and catering programs and ensuring alignment with customer experience objectives, operational performance and financial goals. Identify growth opportunities, emerging industry trends and evolving customer needs to enhance onboard and terminal offerings that improve profitability and drive revenue growth through pricing strategies, sourcing initiatives and operational efficiencies.
  • Leading business cases, feasibility analyses, ROI assessments, capital investments, new concepts, program changes, system transformations and enhancements to onboard and terminal amenities;
  • Managing capital and operating projects related to new builds, infrastructure maintenance and renewal, asset planning and replacement, sustainability initiatives, and process and systems development and upgrades;
  • Analyzing sales performance, margins, waste metrics, labour models and operational performance to address gaps, support operational teams and drive data-informed decision making;
  • Negotiating and managing lessee agreements, contracted services and third-party vendor agreements while maintaining strong supplier relationships, evaluating performance and overseeing corrective actions and contract renewal to ensure quality, reliability and innovation;
  • Partner cross functionally with Operations, Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain and Customer Experience teams on strategic sourcing, procurement planning and supporting the successful implementation of new programs, technologies and service models;
  • Preparing and delivering presentations on performance and program updates, trend analysis and strategic recommendations for senior leadership. Provides leadership, direction, mentorship and guidance to direct reports and other staff fostering collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement;
  • Ensuring consistency across the fleet through standardized processes, brand guidelines, compliance with food safety and corporate standards and effective change management;
  • Collaborating with the Business Controller to develop annual budgets, financial forecasts and pricing strategies for food and retail revenue streams including revenue targets and margin expectations;
  • Ensuring pricing strategies reflect economic conditions, cost driver and competitive positioning. 

 What you bring to the team

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Accounting or Business Administration required.
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) also required.
  • 4 or more years progressive experience in food services, retail management and/or hospitality with large multi-site operations required.
  • 4 or more years demonstrated success in commercial program development, merchandising and food service innovation is required.
  • 4 or more years strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, pricing and P&L is required.

Additional information

The target salary range: $173,600 - $217,000 per annum.  The starting salary is determined based on the successful candidate’s knowledge, experience, and internal equity.
