The Opportunity

BC Ferries is evolving how we measure and govern performance to ensure a sustainable future for coastal connectivity. You are the trusted internal consultant and guardian of corporate performance. You won’t just be tracking metrics; you will be the "Source of Truth" for the pulse of the business that fuels operational excellence across the organization.

You will be the bridge between our strategic long-term vision and our daily operational reality. If you are passionate about tracking the right performance metrics, stewarding data integrity, uncovering the root causes of performance trends, and influencing the operational health of one of British Columbia’s most iconic organizations, this role is for you.

The Role

Reporting to the Manager, Strategy & Business Planning, you will have the following areas of focus:

  • Own the Corporate Scorecard: Serve as the "Source of Truth" for company performance, maintaining the centralized view of strategic KPIs and providing the narrative on why we are hitting (or missing) our marks.
  • Design the Metrics of Tomorrow: Partner with business owners in synthesizing data from multiple sources to enhance or build new KPIs that track the success of our operations and strategic initiatives.
  • Master the "Why": Conduct selective deep-dive root cause analyses to explain performance variances and highlight opportunities, moving beyond "what happened" to "here is how we fix it."
  • Validate the Value: Act as a critical bridge between Operations and Finance, verifying that operational improvements are delivering the real economic value promised in our business cases.

What you bring to the team

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in managing diverse set of enterprise-level KPIs and performance frameworks in a complex, mid-to-large corporate environment
  • 5+ years of experience in influencing cross-functional business leaders on metrics alignment and actionable business insights from complex data sets
  • 2+ years of experience in supporting business case validation, translating KPIs into quantifiable economic impact
  • Deep experience in MS Excel and familiarity with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau etc.)

Traits

  • A natural "data detective" who is comfortable digging into complex data sets to establish linkages and causality
  • Proven ability in building trust with business owners to understand the "real world" driver behind the calculation methodology and results
  • Ability to address and align competing departmental views on metrics definition through proactive consultations
  • Courage to innovate new metrics to better measure organizational performance, based on intended business outcomes
  • Relentless passion for reporting accuracy with curiosity to understand data source discrepancies, ensuring KPI, trend, and variance is meticulously verified before it reaches leadership
  • Ability to operate independently, given requirements and functional objectives. Able to conceive and propose solutions then work directly or through stakeholders to implement

Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Statistics, Mathematics, or Engineering
  • Lean Six Sigma certification is considered an asset
