The Opportunity
Are you passionate about driving operational excellence through data-driven insights and collaboration? We are looking for a Senior Performance & Analytics Advisor to join our dynamic Strategy & Planning team at BC Ferries. This high-impact role will bridge our strategic vision with operational reality, working directly with Senior Leadership team in overseeing and driving our corporate scorecard performance.
As a key member of this team, the Senior Performance & Analytics Advisor will catalyze operational excellence through corporate scorecard governance. In this capacity, you will embed closely with key stakeholders across operations and back office functions to understand their business and the strategic outcomes (imperatives) that they are attempting to drive forward. Through these relationships you will propel the KPI selection and target setting, partnering with the business owners.
The Role
Reporting to the Manager, Strategy & Business Planning, you contribute value through key areas of oversight such as:
- Serving as the primary point of contact for creating and maintaining a centralized view of corporate performance against strategic KPIs (scorecard), tracking performance, and gathering insights on variances to targets;
- Championing and supporting the creation of new strategic KPIs to enable the stand-up and tracking of progress against the organization’s strategic imperatives;
- Conducting analyses related to company performance relative to expectations, understanding the causes of variances and identifying opportunities to improve performance;
- Supporting the development of business cases by acting as a bridge between operations and finance functions, identifying operational KPI performance improvements and translating those into economic value for the company;
What you bring to the team
- 5+ years of experience overseeing and managing KPI performance at the business unit or enterprise level within a mid-to-large sized corporate environment. Including direct experience in:
- Designing and creating new KPI in response to business need
- Creating and supporting scorecards or other performance management frameworks
- Performing detailed analyses of KPI performance trends to identify root trend drivers, providing insights and recommendations on potential improvement tactics
- 5+ years of experience collaborating with and influencing cross-functional leadership team in resolving diverse type of business problems through data driven insights
- 2+ years of experience supporting business case design and creation, specifically identification of target metrics, improvement targets and assessment of performance outcomes against business cases
- Experience in customer facing operations, or customer experience function is an asset
- Experience specific to ferries, marine operations or transportation is NOT required
- Highly data- and detail-oriented, with the ability to partner closely with business owners to understand their operations and existing metrics, how those metrics interrelate, and how they translate into real-world business outcomes and value
- Comfortable engaging in detailed analysis of multiple and complex data sets, establishing linkages and drawing insights on trends, gaps and interrelationships to provide meaningful insights on causality and potential tactics to mitigate
- Experience using data and reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), with advanced proficiency in MS Excel
- Ability to work independently, translating requirements and functional objectives into well-conceived, actionable solutions, and driving implementation directly or through key stakeholders
- Bachelor's Degree in any of Science, Engineering, Statistics, Information Sciences and/or Business
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration is an asset

Additional Information
The target salary range: $105,200 - $131,500 per annum. The starting salary is determined based on the successful candidate’s knowledge and experience, and on internal equity.
