As a Project Manager in our Fleet Project Management Office (FPMO), you will lead complex vessel maintenance, repair, and capital projects—from planning and execution through delivery. You’ll guide multidisciplinary teams, engage industry partners, and steward key project documentation to ensure every project meets scope, schedule, quality, and budget expectations.

 

The role

Reporting to the Director, Fleet Project Management Office, you add value and are energized by key areas of oversight such as:

  • Acting as a single point authority in relation to internal and external stakeholders, with respect to the projects assigned by the Director, FPMO or delegate;
  • Developing and executing project plans according to established FPMO methodology;
  • Manages and develops project teams;
  • Creating and maintaining collaborative working relationships with all key project impacted groups;
  • Responsible for contract management related to assigned projects;
  • Responsible for project change management and providing impact analysis to Project Owners;
  • Following the BCFS Capital Projects Framework and Guidelines in the execution of capital projects;
  • Administering and following applicable Fleet Regulations, Health, Safety, Security, Environmental policies and all applicable regulatory and legal provisions;
  • Providing project reports and updates to both internal and external partners in the approved format and frequency;
  • Ensuring proper closing of projects, including the capturing and dissemination of lessons learned;
  • Assisting Project Owners in developing preliminary and detailed Business Cases;
  • Ensuring value, engineering analysis, feasibility and safety, security, environmental studies are conducted when required;
  • Working with the Project Team and Owners to develop project plans, including but not limited to: requirements gathering, specifications, WBS, budget preparation, cash flow forecast, vessel and project schedule, risk plan, resource allocation plan, procurement plan, quality plan and communication plans;
  • Organizing and chairing meetings with owners, BCFS managers, designers, estimators, contractors, personnel, as well as administering facilities and assets;
  • Travelling to various terminals / worksites as required to ensure proper planning, control, management and execution of projects;

 

What you bring to the team

  • Diploma or Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institute
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) and/or registered Technologist, AScT
  • Marine Engineering Certificate of Competency (Steam or Motor) or demonstrated knowledge based on experience
  • 4-6 years of experience in a progressive operations leadership role
  • 4-6 years of experience in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture or vessel maintenance, repair or upgrade
  • 4-6 years of experience in projects management role
  • 4-6 years of hands-on experience in managing multi-faceted projects, preferably within a shipbuilding, ship repair or industrial marine operations environment
  • Proficiency in MS Office Programs, Maximo, and Cognos/Oracle or similar financial performance and database management systems
  • Work both independently and as a collaborative team member
  • Experience in project planning, implementation and successful coordination of projects

Additional information

The target salary range: $105,200 to $131,500 per annum.  The starting salary is determined based on the successful candidate’s knowledge, experience and internal equity.
