RELIABILITY BASED MAINTENANCE ASSET COORDINATOR

The Opportunity

The Reliability Based Maintenance (RBM) Asset Coordinator is responsible for comparing, collecting, documenting, and analyzing maintenance information from BC Ferries’ assets. Working within the Engineering Standards and Asset Services group, this role supports initiatives aimed at optimizing asset management practices.

 

The Role

The RBM Asset Coordinator will be required to travel to various terminal and vessel’s locations throughout British Columbia to gather asset data, compare the information with existing records, participate in criticality and sparing assessments, document information, and ensure the asset information adheres to relevant policy requirements on data quality and standards.

 

Reporting to the RBM Lead, the RBM Asset Coordinator will perform the following duties:

 

  • Inspecting physical assets on shore and vessels to ensure they match what is recorded in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) – Maximo.
  • Identifying and reporting any discrepancies between the physical assets and the CMMS data.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with regional managers, trade supervisors, and vessel crews to facilitate smooth asset verification processes.
  • Working collaboratively with trade supervisors and vessel crew to assign the right personnel to aid in asset inspections.
  • Ensuring that asset information adheres to all relevant policies on data quality and standards.
  • Ensuring asset records in the CMMS are accurate and up to date.
  • Preparing and sharing detailed reports on asset condition, asset data discrepancies and verification results.
  • Travelling extensively (approximately 85% of the time) to various terminals and vessels for asset verification and collaborating with local team members.
  • Organizing travel plans effectively to make the most of your time on-site.
  • Helping inform/train local teams on the importance of asset management, which includes accurate asset tracking and reporting.
  • Collecting any site Operational Technology (OT) assets and attributes according to cyber security requirements.

 

What you bring to the team

Education & Certification

  • A certificate from a recognized institution in Asset Management, Engineering, Business, or a related technical field is required.
  • A Red Seal Endorsement is required.
  • A Certified Asset Management Professional (CAMP) designation or Maintenance Management Professional (MMP) certification is considered an asset.
  • Equivalent relevant experience or a combination of education and experience will be considered.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Analyze, evaluate, and mitigate program risks; prepare program reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills for spreadsheet management and data reporting.
  • Computerized Maintenance Manager System (CMMS) Experience.
  • Excellent project management, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to think creatively and present ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Skilled at explaining complex procedures and processes.
  • Action-oriented, with the ability to identify, articulate, and implement opportunities.
  • Demonstrated team leader, supportive of the company and engineering department’s mission and vision.
  • Ability to assess how a system should function and anticipate how changes in conditions, operations, or the environment will affect outcomes.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in an equipment- and machinery-intensive environment, with the physical ability to climb ladders, navigate uneven terrain, and safely jump from heights during equipment inspections.

 

Experience

  • 1 to 3 years’ experience in a technical role such as planning, engineering operations, maintenance, trades, trade supervision, project management, or project coordination, with a strong understanding of operational workflows, equipment function, and technical requirements is required.
  • 1 to 3 years’ experience working on a variety of assignments in a technical/analytical role is required.
  • 1 to 3 years’ experience working as an Asset Management Professional or Maintenance Management Professional is considered an asset.
  • 1 to 3 years’ experience working in the Maritime Industry (vessels and marine structures) is considered an asset.
