The opportunity
This position is a Training/Development sponsorship opportunity for prospective employees that reside on Denman Island to obtain their Transport Canada issued STCW and Proficiency in Survival Craft certifications to qualify for employment as a Deckhand. The successful applicant will hold residence on Denman and upon successful completion of MED training will be willing and able to be scheduled for casual work assignments as required in the role of Deckhand.

You are a customer-minded individual who plays a critical role in vessel operations and safety. You have the ability to react in a safe and effective manner during an emergency and to direct and control vehicles and passengers. You have a working knowledge of safe work practices and seamanship and ability to climb ladders, handle ships’ lines and move heavy objects.
