RIGGER

We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced and qualified Rigger to fill an opportunity at our Fleet Maintenance Unit in Richmond, B.C. A professional and safety minded individual, you will work within a team environment and be responsible for the maintenance of life-saving equipment, wire rope, and related equipment.
Responsibilities will encompass: measuring, cutting and splicing wire pennants, tie-up wires and slings; renewing lifeboat and rescue boat falls and related equipment; renewing lifering cordage and small boat gear; forming embarkation ladders; replacing and repairing miscellaneous cordage and chain throughout vessels, including splicing moorage lines; operation of and performing repairs and adjustments to related equipment; and assisting in tie-up and untying of vessels while operational. You have the demonstrated ability to plan and organize tools, materials, time and procedures to safely and efficiently meet requirements, completing assigned tasks to relevant standards.
You have a thorough understanding of Industry standards, WCB regulations and safe work practices. You have extensive experience in splicing to include: wire rope, 2 in 1 double braided nylon, 3-strand natural, and 8 & 12 strand synthetic fibre rope. Experience in a ship maintenance environment is preferred. A valid BC driver’s licence is required as the position will involve moderate travel throughout the fleet.
