The Opportunity

Are you a creative and detail-oriented web professional with a passion for digital design? We are looking for a Web Designer to join our dynamic Product & Consumer Marketing team.

 

In this role, you’ll play a key part in maintaining and enhancing the digital experience for our customers and employees across multiple platforms—including our website, mobile app, intranet, SailSafe.com, and more. From routine content updates to supporting UX design and larger digital initiatives, you’ll help shape how BC Ferries shows up online.

 

In collaboration with internal stakeholders, you will support the maintenance and enhancement of BC Ferries' web platforms by applying your creative eye and knowledge best practices in web design. The primary responsibilities for this role are web design, content management, coordinating web updates and the production of web assets, UAT testing as a part of website releases, administration of the team's SharePoint site and task management tools, and assisting UX Designers with production of designs as required. This role will also support a range of internal and external distributions, including email newsletters via the Campaigner tool, internal podcast updates and more.

 

The Role

Reporting to the Manager, Digital Services & Workflow, you add value and are energized by key areas of oversight such as:

  • Performing routine operational content updates on BC Ferries web platforms;
  • Monitoring incoming requests to Digital Services and action as required;
  • Coordinating the production of digital assets for web content initiatives on intranet;
  • Providing design input on projects and operational initiatives in collaboration with UX Designers;
  • Assisting with hybris release testing on website/mobile app as required;
  • Publishing the weekly CEO podcast updates on employee intranet;
  • Providing training in Marqui, SmartEdit and Back Office to internal clients;
  • Publishing electronic newsletter via Campaigner tool and communicates with supporting teams;
  • Executing ENL list management tactics including segmentation, CRM, and email delivery;
  • Maintaining the organization of the Digital Services team's SharePoint site and task management tools such as MS Planner, Jira and Confluence;
  • Assisting with user testing/research using tools such a Lyssna;
  • Available on-call on weekends on a rotating basis;

What you bring to the team

  • Bachelor's Degree in Web Design, Business, Marketing, or relevant design certification
  • 3-5 years of web design experience
  • Proficiency in Web Design best practices and HTML/CSS
  • Excellent written, oral, and social interpersonal skills across multiple audiences and methods
  • Experience in using enterprise content management systems

Additional information

The target salary range: $66,300 - $82,800 per annum.  The starting salary is determined based on the successful candidate’s knowledge, experience and internal equity.
