BUSINESS SOLUTIONS MANAGER

The Opportunity

You are a customer-focused team player, with strong communication skills and excellent analytical skills. You are responsible for consultation to senior management and business owners, ensuring that project/operational solutions meet the needs of the business. You facilitate workshops with stakeholder groups, and you support the business strategy and project requirements for a particular business area, ensuring that project solutions meet the needs of the business.

 

The Role

Reporting to the Executive Director, Business Transformation, you add value by key areas of oversight such as:

  • Managing, leading and directing the sustainment and/or project team members including employees, contractors and vendors
  • Managing Operational and/or Project budgets
  • Partnering with the business and technology groups to elicit, analyze, translate, and document business requirements into effective system and technical requirements/specifications
  • Supporting the business strategy and project requirements for a particular business area
  • Overseeing and guiding the effective transition from projects to sustainment through project management
  • Identifying unmet business needs and coaching business partners on leading their own technology initiatives
  • Overseeing end-to-end projects from requirements gathering through development and delivery
  • Representing business interests and managing development for Agile projects
  • Building relationships with both internal customers and external vendors to ensure teamwork and synergy in delivery of services to BC Ferries business units
  • Overseeing quality control throughout the development lifecycle, ensuring comprehensive test plans and appropriate system documentation and training are in place
  • Monitoring, evaluating and enhancing business processes and solutions
  • Providing direction and consultation to affected stakeholders and departments

 

Qualifications and Skills

You have a Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Business or IT related education and experience. Project Management or Business Analysis certification is an asset. You have experience gathering, documenting and clarifying requirements from multiple stakeholders, using best practice methods and tools. In addition, you have experience with BABOK on custom development or package software implementation project. As well as extended experience on business processes, developing and recommending efficiencies, and reducing bottlenecks across end to end cross-departmental processes.

Additional information

The target salary range: 105,200 - $131,500.  The starting salary is determined based on the successful candidate’s knowledge, experience and internal equity.
