3-Month Term

 

The Opportunity

Working as part of a dynamic, results-driven Terminal Engineering department, you are a creative, detail-oriented professional responsible for developing, preparing, reviewing, analyzing, and designing CAD drawings and technical reports. Our team is responsible for the development, construction, maintenance, and repair of ferry terminals and marine structures. You liaise with project management and maintenance teams using your skills and experience to provide excellent customer service. You are comfortable working to deadlines and can prioritize your work to meet project and maintenance schedules.

 

The Role

You have a strong ability to perform mathematical calculations to establish structure, sea level and land elevations. You put safety first while conducting site inspections at terminals, shipyards, and ships to collect accurate data in the planning and design of marine structures and revise existing file drawings to reflect current or as-built status. You ensure appropriate application of information through the use of technical reports, preliminary concepts, sketches, and specification sheets. You provide graphic services and technical expertise to other BC Ferries departments.

 

What you bring to the team

You have a college diploma in draughting or equivalent, and a minimum of 2 years’ experience with civil, marine, or structural draughting along with extensive AutoCad experience and/or training. You are a results-driven self-starter with excellent communication and problem-solving skills with a strong focus on client services. You are proficient using Microsoft Office Suite applications.

 

Experience with civil and marine surveying, SharePoint and network drive archiving, and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) would be assets.
