REGIONAL MANAGER, TERMINAL MAINTENANCE

Swartz Bay

 

The Opportunity

We are searching for Regional Manager to join our Terminal Maintenance team. As a key member of Terminal Maintenance team, you are accountable for ensuring the safe, timely and efficient maintenance of terminal marine structures and shore facilities by managing and executing an effective maintenance management program to ensure safe and reliable operations. You can lead a team of admin, planners, supervisors, and skilled trades in a unionized environment and requires knowledge of marine structures, mechanical systems, hydraulics, electrical, civil, buildings and sewage plants.

 

The Role

Reporting to the Director, Terminal Maintenance, you add value to the team in the following categories:

A. Ensuring that terminal marine and shore facilities are available for safe operations by:

  • Planning, developing, implementing and managing a comprehensive and effective preventative and reliability maintenance program
  • Developing technical solutions to challenges and presenting options to rectify issues
  • Planning and managing operating and smaller capital projects for successful delivery
  • Preparing and managing operating and minor capital budgets
  • Carrying out the program within budget limits and forecasting appropriately
  • Ensuring Corporate and legislated standards are met
  • Responding to emergencies as required

B. Assembling and maintaining staff capability to carry out the maintenance program by:

  • Developing and implementing training programs
  • Hiring qualified trades people and support staff with required skills
  • Providing leadership, mentoring and guidance
  • Maintaining a functional organization for region in line with department guidelines
  • Assigning, tracking and monitoring work to regional staff
  • Taking disciplinary action according to provisions of the collective agreement

C. Providing input to the collective bargaining process

  • Utilizing CMMS software
  • Developing business processes and systems to record historical data
  • Monitoring activity and providing progress reports

D. Acquiring services beyond the capability of the maintenance department by:

  • Working within company finance and supply chain policies
  • Evaluating bids and proposals for work from contractors
  • Negotiating contracts with contractors
  • Ensuring contractors operate within BCF safety standard
  • Monitoring and evaluating contract work and ensuring costs are according to contractual terms

E. Ensuring safe operations of Maintenance on BCF property by:

  • Conducting risk assessments and incident reviews
  • Coordinating with WorkSafe BC
  • Ensuring compliance (Environmental, Safety, Training Qualifications)

 

What you bring to the team

You posses a four-year undergraduate degree in an Engineering related field or successful completion of a two-year community college diploma, technical institute certification, or equivalent (e.g. trades certification). Registration with EGBC and a Project Management or Maintenance Management Professional Certificate considered an asset. You posses strong interpersonal, technical, organizational, project and time management skills. You have the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships and work with computer software (CMMS unspecified but Maximo preferred, MS Office Excel, MS Word and Outlook).

Additional information

The target salary range: $121,800 - $152,200 per annum.  The starting salary is determined based on the successful candidate’s knowledge, experience and internal equity. Starting salary may exceed the target range on exceptional basis.
