The Opportunity

We are looking for a Manager, Operational Training to lead a team of Advisors, Coordinators, and internal Trainers, while managing the Operational Training portfolio which includes the development and delivery of over 75 classroom programs. As a critical member of the Operational Training team, you are responsible for the ongoing development and management of the annual Operational Training Plan and ensuring that regulatory and company requirements are met in an effective and efficient manner.

 

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Operational Training, you will add value and find yourself energized by key areas of oversight such as:

  • Developing and monitoring the Company’s annual Operational Training Plan in conjunction with Scheduling Services, Recruitment, People Experience, and Operations.
  • Overseeing the delivery of the Company’s annual Operational Training Plan.
  • Acting as a field expert on all aspects of Company training activities.
  • Acting as a field expert on all regulatory requirements for Company training and liaising with regulatory bodies when required.
  • Managing the development of programs and guidelines for training, collaborating with inter-divisional teams.
  • Managing the selection, use, performance, and development of all internal trainers.
  • Overseeing the Operational Training budgets, including accountability for expenditures.
  • Gathering data, preparing reports, and participating in various reporting requirements.
  • Mentoring employees, supervisors, and managers on all aspects of Company training activities.
  • Leading the Operational Training team, allocating and monitoring work, and assessing staff performance.
  • Assisting in the training plans for new and upgraded vessels and providing expertise to other departments requiring training information.

 

What you bring to the team

You demonstrate strong leadership skills and foster a motivational team environment. You possess strong written and verbal communication skills and effectively engage others in your communication, both verbal and written. You identify areas for improvement in work management and create effective administrative and organizational systems and mechanisms to meet ongoing organizational needs.

 

Formal education in the areas of adult education and management skills is preferred, but a combination of education and experience will also be considered.

You have a minimum of two years of experience in a training role, with a preference for Operational Training experience. Formal education in the areas of adult education and management skills is preferred, but a combination of education and experience will also be considered.

Additional information

The target salary range: $95,600 - $119,500 per annum.  The starting salary is determined based on the successful candidate’s knowledge, experience and internal equity. Starting salary may exceed the target range on exceptional basis.
