MAINTENANCE STANDARDS LEAD

The Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Maintenance Standards Lead to join our Engineering Standards and Asset Services group. As a critical part of the team, you are responsible for implementing, tracking and auditing the standardized creation of inspection routines and job plans for terminal and vessel assets. You are a strong leader who can guide decisions and facilitate discussion. You also support activities that ensure that our assets are maintained to the highest standards, ensuring safety, reliability and efficiency in our operations.

 

The Role

Reporting to the Manager, Maintenance Standards, your key areas of responsibility are: 

  • Inspection Routine Development: Design and standardize inspection routines for terminal and vessel assets, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements;
  • Standardized Job Plan Creation: Develop detailed job plans for maintenance activities, incorporating best practices and ensuring consistency across all assets. Ensure that the job plans are aligned to job plan standards and policies and the identification of assets to BCF’s asset hierarchy and Integrated Maintenance System (IMS) taxonomy;
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of inspection routines and job plans. Generate reports and documentation as required for regulatory compliance and internal use;
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Manager of Maintenance Standards, maintenance teams, terminal and vessel (FPMO) planners and other stakeholders to ensure that inspection routines and job plans are practical, effective and up-to-date;
  • Equipment Information Gathering: Actively seek information by working with stakeholders, equipment suppliers and other relevant parties. Travel within the BC Ferries network may be required to gather asset information, verify asset locations and ensure accurate and up-to-date asset records;
  • Continuous Improvement: Monitor and assess the effectiveness of existing inspection routines and job plans. Implement improvements and updates as necessary;
  • Support management of the long-term maintenance budgets, report on forecasted versus actual maintenance costs;
  • Training and Support: Provide training and support to maintenance personnel on the implementation and execution of inspection routines and job plans;
  • Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with BC Ferries’ safety, environmental and operational policies and procedures;
  • Data Management: Utilize asset management software, IBM Maximo, to input, update and track asset information, inspection schedules and maintenance activities;

 

What you bring to the team

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field. Equivalent technical experience may be considered in conjunction with and Asset Management or Maintenance Management certificate.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in asset management, maintenance planning or a related field, preferably within the marine or transportation industry Knowledge of the relevant codes and regulatory frameworks applicable to land-based facilities and the vessel-terminal interface.
  • Additional training or certification in asset management (CAMP) or maintenance planning (MMP) would be an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of asset management principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in asset management software (IBM Maximo or similar) and computerized maintenance management (CMMS) tools.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Additional information

The target salary range: $81,100 - $101,300 per annum.  The starting salary is determined based on the successful candidate’s knowledge, experience and internal equity. Starting salary may exceed the target range on exceptional basis.
