The Opportunity

BC Ferries is one of the largest ferry operators in the world, dedicated to safe, efficient travel along BC's beautiful coast for over 60 years. We are currently seeking a motivated Reliability-Based Maintenance (RBM) Lead to support our Asset Management strategy by implementing the RBM process across all terminals.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering Standards and Asset Services, the RBM Lead will play a key role in gathering asset data, assessing asset criticality, and aligning maintenance strategies to optimize operations. This position also requires effective leadership of a team of RBM Coordinators, guiding them in data collection, stakeholder engagement, and supporting our change management initiatives. This role offers a unique opportunity to drive long-term maintenance solutions within a complex operational environment. 

The Role

  • Lead the collection and analysis of asset data to support the RBM process.
  • Facilitate asset criticality assessments to ensure prioritized, effective maintenance strategies.
  • Implement a sparing process to maintain the availability of essential components for operational reliability.
  • Align maintenance plans with asset criticality and track completion of job plans to maximize resource allocation and minimize downtime.
  • Hire, train, and manage a team of RBM Coordinators, ensuring effective data collection and asset register updates.
  • Hire, train, and manage a team of inventory coordinators that will collaborate with Supply Chain to collect stores inventory and capture inventory in our database.
  • Help develop and deliver training sessions on the RBM process, providing guidance to team members and stakeholders.
  • Oversee progress of RBM initiatives, generating regular reports to assess and improve process outcomes.
  • Travel to BC Ferries sites to execute the RBM process, conduct assessments, and support change management.
  • Support cyber security compliance by collecting Operational Technology (OT) assets for asset register inclusion.

 

What you bring to the team

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related discipline (preferred) or technical certification with equivalent experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience in asset management, maintenance, or project management.
  • Certifications in Maintenance Management Professional (MMP), Certified Asset Management Professional (CAMP), or PMP.
  • Experience in maritime or industrial environments preferred.
  • Proficiency in asset management software and applications, including MS Office, Maximo, and project management tools.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to guide and motivate a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience in risk assessment and prioritizing maintenance efforts.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills, with experience working under tight deadlines.

Additional Information

The target salary range: $95,600 - $119,500 per annum. The starting salary is determined based on the successful candidate’s knowledge, experience, and internal equity. Starting salary may exceed the target range on exceptional basis.
