The Opportunity

Are you an exceptional contributor in the Marine Industry who is passionate about collaborative, innovative and environmentally responsible advancements in your field? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our project management team. As a Project Coordinator, FPMO, you will execute lower complexity vessel projects as lead, and be responsible for planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing the project. You support the assigned Senior Project Manager as Project Lead for low complexity projects and is responsible for ensuring the Project Team delivers the defined project scope and deliverables within budget, on schedule, at the required level of quality, and within the acceptable level of health, safety, security and environmental risk.  

 

Typical assignments may include: refit, dry-docking, capital modifications, conversions, emergent repairs or improvements to BCFS vessels. You also oversee and monitor the project from initiation to close out, ensuring that the Project Team produces the project deliverables within budget, on schedule, at the required level of quality and within the acceptable levels of health, safety, and environmental risk.

 

The role

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, Fleet Project Management Office, you add value and are energized by key areas of oversight such as:

  • Acting as a single point authority in relation to internal and external stakeholders, with respect to the projects assigned
  • Developing and executing project plans according to established FPMO methodology
  • Liaising and executing contract management processes related to assigned projects
  • Executing project change management and provide impact analysis to Project Owners
  • Ensuring proper closing of projects, including the capturing and dissemination of lessons learned
  • Assisting Project Owners and Project Managers in developing preliminary and detailed Business Cases
  • Providing project reports and updates to both internal and external stakeholders in the approved format and frequency
  • Creating and maintaining collaborative working relationships with all key project stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Administering and following applicable BCFS Fleet Regulations, Health, Safety, Security, Environmental policies and all applicable Regulatory and legal provisions
  • Travelling as required to ensure proper planning, control, management and execution of projects

What you bring to the team

This is an opportunity for a developing maritime professional interested in advancing their skills in complex projects management. Ideally, you have a Diploma or Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized educational institution. Training in Project Management Principles and knowledge areas and working towards Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification considered as asset.  You have 2 or more years supporting multi-faceted projects, preferably within a shipbuilding, ship repair or marine operations environment.  Proficiency in MS Office Programs, Maximo, and Cognos/Oracle or similar software systems is an asset.  Formal training in project management or financial management would also be an advantage. Occasional travel and placement in overseas shipyards might be required; the successful candidate should be prepared to take on such assignments.

Additional information

The target salary range: $81,100 - $101,300 per annum.  The starting salary is determined based on the successful candidate’s knowledge, experience and internal equity. Starting salary may exceed the target range on exceptional basis.
