MANAGER, HUMAN RESOURCE INFORMATION SYSTEMS

The opportunity

As a key member of the IT Management team, you provide strategic leadership in the Human Capital Management (HCM) business area, driving business benefits through technology enablement. You oversee the Human Resources Information Systems team, ensuring the effective management of applications and training. As the Manager, you are responsible for identifying the type and quantity of resources required to maintain applications in alignment with business area requirements.

Your responsibilities also include managing technical, operational, and business interfaces, ensuring seamless coordination and communication among various teams.

BC Ferries is embarking upon an exciting HCM business and technology transformation journey. You play a pivotal role in defining the technology roadmap and creating HCM systems that are designed to streamline processes, increase efficiency, and empower employees to reach their full potential. 

 

Reporting to the Director, IT Enterprise Applications, your key areas of responsibility are:  

  • Provide clear leadership and direction towards realizing system benefits and implementing cost-effective practices
  • Formulate and define systems scope and objectives based on user needs and business requirements
  • Proven track record in building & sustaining high performing team capable of driving technical modernization efforts in parallel to delivering on business commitments
  • Experience in managing complex delivery initiatives in highly dynamic, global organizations; with a preference for those with experience in transportation or similar industry with Union, Exempt and distributed workforce.
  • Oversee the development of interfaces to external systems and identifying areas for customization and optimization, providing solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Oversee system testing and development of reports for compliance with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Develop metrics to monitor performance, identifying quality and process improvement opportunities and including the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) development and adherence to business processes
  • Liaising with business senior management to provide timely and correct information on the sustainment of the particular business function
  • Provide mentorship and guidance in specific business applications, including management principles, best practices, and standards
  • Experience driving adoption of technology through education, training, and other organizational change management strategies

What you bring to the team 

  • Degree or Diploma in Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or related field
  • Oracle HCM Cloud certifications
  • Extensive leadership experience in HRIS roles, and a proven track record of successful system transformations
  • Strong expertise in Oracle Fusion HCM, Kronos, and other HR systems with direct experience in system upgrades and consolidation
  • In depth knowledge of typical key HR processes, including time and attendance and demonstrated success with process mapping and optimization
  • Adept at driving change, aligning stakeholders and executing projects within a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated experience aligning systems and processes post-acquisition delivering superior results
  • Strong project management skills

Additional information

The target salary range: $121,800 - $152,200 per annum.  The starting salary is determined based on the successful candidate’s knowledge, experience and internal equity. Starting salary may exceed the target range on exceptional basis.
