CORPORATE SECURITY OFFICER
In a role critical to the safety and security of BC Ferries operations you are a key member of the Corporate Security team. Reporting to the Manager, Security, you are responsible for the North Coast & Northern Islands Regions, ensuring compliance with the Domestic Ferries Security Regulations (DFSR) as well you identify security vulnerabilities, respond to security concerns, organize and conduct drills and exercises, initiate preventative security measures. You oversee the contracted security guards and canine screening at area facilities and vessels. You manage the security technology and communication function (CCTV, access control, alarm management, etc.) of the Northern Region’s facilities and vessels while training and educating employees in security awareness and preparedness. You act as a company representative on matters of security with the general public and civic authorities.
You hold a diploma in Business Administration, Criminal Justice or other related discipline, and five years’ experience in a security related field. You have strong analytical, planning and leadership skills. You are proficient with the MS Office Suite of programs, have excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact positively and proactively with customers and staff at all levels. Familiarity with marine security, and specifically an understanding of the DFSR would be an asset.
Travel and some shift work may be required. The successful candidate will hold a British Columbia Security Workers Licence and be subject to a Criminal Record Check.
