BC Ferries is looking for a team-focused, detail-oriented and results-driven Corporate Controller to work out of our Head Office location, supporting the Vice President, Finance & Chief Financial Officer.
You are responsible for the integrity of the Company’s financial transactions, records, and reporting in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards “IFRS” and meeting statutory and regulatory financial reporting requirements.
You will assist with establishing, maintaining and monitoring appropriate financial controls and developing cost-effective policies and procedures to minimize risk of error or fraud. You will promote financial accountability within BC Ferries and provide advice and input on financial matters. You will manage a team of approximately 50 bargaining unit and exempt staff (Accounting & Reporting, Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Revenue/Accounts Receivable).
This position will be of interest to those with excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as strong strategic, organizational and analytical skills. You will have a professional accounting designation (CPA) and a minimum of 10 years’ experience in progressively more responsible positions, preferably in a large corporate setting. Strong technical knowledge of IFRS is required and experience with public company reporting requirements and working in a regulated environment would be considered assets.
